Performing for Success
Middle school is an important time to develop the skills necessary to be successful in High School. Middle school teachers work together to coordinate concepts across the curriculum and allow students to practice organizational skills. Each student is given a planner at the beginning of the school year to help keep track of assignments, and as a communication tool to parents. Parents are encouraged to check the planner frequently, and contact teachers with any questions.
Each middle school student is assigned an academic "mentor" who meets with them periodically to keep track of academic progress and serve as a source of information for parents. Parents also have access to assignments and current academic standing in all classes through "Snapgrades" at www.snapgrades.com.
Middle School students follow a traditional forty-five minute, seven period day, with four academic classes (Math, Science, English and Social Studies), and two arts classes each day. Students also take part in a Keyboarding class, where they learn basic typing as well as research and computer skills. Students have a Directed Study session three times each week, where they are able to work on classwork with teachers available to answer questions.
